I Feel Good (feat. Johnny Apollo)

A 2 track funk single (6m 4s) — released June 3rd 2013 on Tramp Records

Drummer Duffy Jackson, son of legendary Jazz Bassist Chubby Jackson, had built up quite a reputation as the "Jazz Wonderkind" by the age of ten. After graduating from high school, Jackson played a three-week stint at Shelly's Mannhole with Milt Jackson and Ray Brown. By his 18th birthday, Jackson was touring the country with Lena Horne. Since that time Duffy Jackson's powerful, swinging style has driven such big name bands as Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Lionel Hampton and Illinois Jacquet.

In 1975, singer Johnny Apollo did a recording of the James Brown song I Feel Good with the Tonight Show Band led by Tommy Neusom with the help of the famous Jazz Pole winner, Bassist Chubby Jackson and his son Duffy Jackson. Both sides of this hard to find 45rpm single are driving big-band funk cuts. The winner is certainly I Feel Good, a sure-shot on ANY dance floor on this planet. The 45 comes with the original label artwork and islimited to 500 copies.
