Bobby Allen was born in Crowley, Louisiana. In the early 1960s he started singing with different bands and then he formed the Exceptions in around 1968. The first 45rpm single release was Please Santa Bring My Baby b/w Lonely Christmas Tears. After that he recorded Soul Chicken in 1970 at Modern Music Studio in Crowley, Louisiana. 1500 copies were pressed and sold at local music shops. Bobby Allen is featured on two Tramp compilations, Movements Vol.5 and Santa's Funk & Soul Christmas Party Vol.2, where you can find more detailed information about him.
